Description
The ‘Fino de Jete’ cherimoya is a highly esteemed cultivar, particularly prominent in Spain’s Granada and Málaga provinces, where it holds a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status. Renowned for its exceptional flavor, this variety is often considered one of the finest cherimoyas available.
The fruit boasts a creamy, custard-like texture with a sweet, rich taste complemented by subtle tropical notes such as pineapple, banana, and strawberry. It also exhibits a slight acidity, enhancing its complex flavor profile.
‘Fino de Jete’ cherimoyas are typically medium to large, heart-shaped or rounded, with light green skin that is smooth or slightly indented.
The trees grow to about 15–20 feet tall and thrive in full sun with well-drained, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.0–6.0). They are suitable for USDA zones 9–11 and can tolerate temperatures down to 25–32°F.
Plants are grafted in liner tubes. Tubes are 9″ and the plant itself is approx 12″-16″+ tall.
